  • Two rainbows reflected on the large rocks of a water fall

    Submission Guidelines:

800-1200 word blog posts about your FIRST HAND ACCOUNT of living with a mental illness or neurodivergence and/or how those struggles affect your faith. Exceptions are made on a case by case basis for those who are allies to someone living with a mental illness wishing to share their story of how to support someone while caring for yourself or mental health professionals wanting to write about certain skillsets.

400-800 word reviews of books that are written about mental illness, neurodivergence, or healing/ self-help.

    Written in English.

Articles need to be well written with a beginning middle and end. A pitch must share the full scope of what you wish to communicate in the article and the take away of your post should be clear.

Book reviews share: a bit about the author, about the book content/format. If you felt the book was helpful/informative/ how it impacted you as a person living with mental illness/ neurodivergence. Also share whether or not you would recommend this book to others and why.

Your post doesn’t have to be triumphant in nature. Sometimes this stuff just sucks and sharing the struggles you face can help another feel less alone HOWEVER we have a diverse readership and never want to negatively affect anyone’s mental health so anything with a tone of hopelessness will not be chosen for publication.

    How to Pitch:

Email your pitch to mentalhealthtingskbc@gmail.com or fill out the form below.

If you are not already familiar with Mental Health Tings, please spend some time reading different articles to get a feel for the kind of work we share before pitching.

If you are submitting a complete post that has already been written, please share the link to the Google doc or written in the body of the email. If accepted all editing will take place using Google docs.

WORD DOCUMENTS OR OTHER ATTACHMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Pitches should be specific in nature. Ex: “I learned how to manage my mental illness with healthy coping mechanisms“ will be passed up in favor of a pitch that says “by skipping outside for an hour every day, watching the sunset every night and blowing bubbles during my lunch break, I learned how to manage my rage that stems from my BPD.” The more detailed your pitch, the greater the chances are that it will be published.

If you’ve been published before you may include links to other pieces you’ve written. It is by no means a necessity.
